THE PERFECT BACKYARD WEDDING

The Weeden House is a beautiful historical home, perfect for a backyard wedding under the pecan trees. It gets gorgeous light in the evening, is close to downtown for photos around Huntsville, and is one of those rare venues that has equally nice getting ready suites for both the bride and the groom.

Nestled within the historic Twinkenham District of Huntsville, Alabama, and set on a small downtown property, the Weeden House Museum offers a charming venue for your wedding day.

The Weeden House itself, a beautifully restored Federal-style home built in 1819, serves as the focal point of your wedding festivities, and the back garden is a romantic backdrop for your ceremony. Exchange vows under the canopy of the pecan trees, or within the historic parlor, where echoes of the past add to the sense of occasion. Inside the historic home, you'll find an elegant spiral staircase, a stunning architectural feature that adds to the timeless beauty of the Weeden House.

As evening falls, the Weeden House is bathed in a soft, golden light, casting a warm glow over the grounds. Dance beneath the stars, surrounded by the quiet majesty of the pecan trees, before bidding farewell to this historic haven as newlyweds, with memories to last a lifetime.

FAQ: A FEW OF OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WEDDINGS AT THE WEEDEN HOUSE AND MUSEUM

Can we both get ready at the Weeden House?
The Weeden House + Museum has three rooms upstairs, with enough space and light for both wedding party to get dressed and ready for the wedding day. Make sure your hair is prepped beforehand, though, because curling irons and hair straighteners aren't allowed upstairs!
What time should we start our ceremony?
For an outdoor ceremony in the back garden of the Weeden House, I would recommend starting about 2 hours before sunset. This may vary based on the time of year, whether you're doing a first look, or your preferences for an evening vs morning ceremony.
Where should we take our family portraits at the Weeden House?
The back garden has a variety of beautiful places for your family photos, and gets gorgeous light in the evenings.
What ceremony locations are available?
The Weeden House and Museum has several spaces suitable for a wedding ceremony β€” my personal favorite is the garden behind the home, but other options (for smaller ceremonies) include the front lawn, the West Parlor, and the East Parlor.
Do they allow sparkler exits?
The Weeden House and Museum has a strict fire code, due to it being a preserved historical home. Even curling irons and hair straighteners are prohibited!
Where should we take our couple portraits?
Because the Weeden House is so close to Downtown Huntsville, I recommend breaking away from the party for 30 minutes or so and exploring downtown for your wedding portraits! However, there are also gorgeous spots throughout the property, both indoors and out on the grounds.

Inspired by genealogy and family legacy, I go into every wedding day with the knowledge that your wedding photos are some of the only photos that stick around generationally β€” they are a critical part of the story your family will learn about you! I consider it’s my responsibility and privilege to help tell that story honestly and elegantly.

You should probably know: I will cry during your dad's speech. I will be getting down on the dance floor with your guests. I'll help you plan intentional time with your partner and closest friends and family on your wedding day β€” and step back so that you can experience those core memories without interruption. I'll guide you through portraits and wedding prep, work closely with your other vendors to make the magic happen, and capture every moment of your wedding day in all its glory.
