Callen and Taylor had their August wedding at the Ogden Temple, and their luncheon and wedding reception just across the street at the Grand View Venue. We also got to do their wedding portraits a few weeks before at Thanksgiving Point!

When I blog about weddings, I like to include some of my notes on the different venues and locations. Hopefully this will help you find some helpful information if you’re planning a similar wedding!

About the Wedding Venue

The Grand View was fantastic to work with. They have the kindest owner and staff, and are super close to the Ogden temple. Their location made it easy to go back over there for wedding portraits between their wedding luncheon and reception. The Grand View also did “warm cookie sundaes” (warm cookies and ice cream!) and it was a great reception dessert!

The Grand View has large North and Northwest facing windows and a big wall of mirrors on the west side. The front of the venue gets nice diffused natural light throughout the day. There is also beautiful direct light in the late afternoon!

Definitely highly recommend them for anyone getting married at the Ogden Temple.

Planning your sealing at the Ogden Temple

Their sealing at the Ogden Temple was at 12:30, and the family was out of the temple right around 1pm. At 1pm in August, there was very little shade! Their temple exit was pretty much in full noon sun, with just a little bit of backlighting. There was only one patch of shade large enough for the larger family photos (under the big tree on the East Lawn, near the back of the temple) and another wedding was using that when we first started, so we were only able to go over there halfway through family photos. We were able to use some smaller shade trees along the walkway for smaller family groupings at the beginning.

If you’re planning your wedding at the Ogden Temple, you should be aware that you’ll exit on the east (back) side of the temple. There will be direct sun there in the morning, and shade as you get into the afternoon. The front of the Ogden Temple and the reflecting pool get shade in the morning and more direct sun in the afternoon and evening.
