This was such a fun session for me to do, because not only did I get to do Landon and Kenadee’s engagement photos back in 2021 when I was just getting going with this whole family photographer thing, but I also know Landon from high school back in Colorado Springs. I never would have thought that almost a decade later we would both be here in southeastern Idaho, both with kids of our own, and that I would be their family photographer! But here we are!
I actually was the one that reached out to the Platts this fall. I knew I wanted to get some pretty pictures in the Idaho autumn colors, and as soon as I found out my husband and I were moving up to Rexburg I knew that I wanted to shoot with them again! Kenadee graduated from BYU-I last year, but her husband is still finishing up school, so they’ll be here a bit longer. When I messaged Kenadee, she was super enthusiastic. We had a blast planning their family photo session!
The timing for their family photos ended up working perfectly for both the fall colors and their baby’s first birthday! This kid was an absolute joy to work with and was so happy and easygoing during their family photos. When he got sick of being held and smiling at the camera (as littles tend to) we put him down and let him play with (eat) the grass while we finished grabbing some couple photos of his parents. We were able to get some cute documentary photos of them all together as well before it was time to call it!
One of the best parts of their session was at the very end — as we were headed back to the cars to head back to Rexburg from Kelly Canyon, there was a mama cow and her yearling baby just chilling on the trail! It was super cool to see up close (even though cows are pretty big!) and a very Idaho experience.
