Haley and Trace got engaged over the holidays, and really wanted to get their engagement photos back in time to use them for the save-the-dates they were planning to send in February. So that meant we wanted to get their engagements done in January! They wanted somewhere that would be indoor but still classic and beautiful with plenty of light. The art museum ended up being the perfect spot for this! These photos were at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Alabama (where I frequently photograph when I visit family out there) but as a Washington engagement photographer there are lots of beautiful museums out here in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia as well to do engagement photos!

I love to start museum engagement photos off by utilizing window light for classic portraits! At the Birmingham Museum of Art, I love the ballroom on the 2nd floor, as well as the staircase up to there! Both of those spaces have beautiful natural window light. If it’s warm enough, we’ll also go visit the Birmingham city walk right next door (check out this engagement session to see that!) but for this winter session, we had a crazy cold and windy day and wanted somewhere inside and sheltered from the weather!

As we run out of window light, we get to shift to the extra fun engagement photos at the art museum: exploring the exhibits!

Choosing a local museum for your engagement photos is such an awesome solution for winter or bad weather days, or for anyone who prefers a creative indoor engagement session! If this looks like the kind of engagement photos you’re wanting, I would love to get in touch.
Although I am primarily a Washington Engagement Photographer, I lived in Huntsville and Gadsden, Alabama and still have family and friends I visit there regularly. If this looks like exactly the kind of engagement session you’d like to do at the Museum of Art in Birmingham, definitely don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via my contact form! Hope to hear from you soon
Love, Sarah
