These Washington coast engagement photos at Twin Harbor State Park immediately made it into my top engagement sessions this year — and my top engagement photo locations in Washington State! The Washington coast has always had a special place in my heart, but what I loved most was that this was a spot that genuinely meant something to these guys. Naomi and Torii chose a beach that they love to surf at together!
It was so cool getting to photograph them genuinely in their element out on the coast. And they actually almost didn’t even do it — the timing was tight with save the dates, so they almost just went with photos they already had together. But they reached out to me and I was able to do an expedited turnaround time for them. And now they’ll have these incredible photos at their favorite spot, from when they were young and in love and newly engaged and they’ll literally have them the rest of their lives. Their kids will see those photos instead of just iPhone selfies.

We started their engagement photos in pines right next to the parking lot, and then shifted into the dune trails at Twin Harbors State Park. We made sure to stay on the path and follow leave no trace principles! I typically like to start engagement sessions in a slightly more sheltered area, and then move into more open areas as sunset softens up the light, towards the end of golden hour and getting into blue hour. That’s exactly what we did for this session too!

As the sun was setting we headed towards the ocean to wrap up their photos. We had so much fun on the beach. Found a sand dollar! Ran around in the waves. Even got a photo with a seagull! Their session coincided with some last minute clamming dates so there were hundreds of people clamming just to the left of us. But the right (into Twin Harbors State Park) was perfect and empty and we had tons of space.

Naomi wrote me the nicest email after they got their photos back, too.
“Thank you so much for your time and all of these lovely photos. It was incredibly helpful and appreciated that you got our gallery to us so quickly! We were able to order our invites last Saturday and we feel really great about when we’ll be able to send these out to our guests. Our website gallery also looks soooo cute now!
Our drive up to the engagement shoot was quite stressful, but immediately after working with you all we could talk about was how fun and relaxed everything was!
That was the first time we’ve ever had our photos taken professionally, and we’re both incredibly grateful for your involvement and encouragement.”

If these look like the kind of engagement photos you’re wanting, I would love to get in touch! I’m based in Seattle and photograph engagements and weddings all over western Washington, including the Washington Coast and Twin Harbors State Park area. The easiest way to reach me about engagement photos is via my contact form. You can also learn more about engagement sessions here!
Hope to hear from you soon
